For many of us, sleeping in the right position is all it takes to stop snoring, but even if you go to sleep in the right position, you wake up lying in the wrong one! This pillow trains you to sleep in a position that keeps the airways open, and it’s super-comfortable at the same time. Confining the jaw from the inside out and/or restraining the tongue works for a great many people, so I won’t knock these products if you think they may be right for you. The theory is good. However, in practice, many people struggle to sleep well with something in their mouth, and if you want to drink water or speak, your mouthguard will have to come out first. A lot of people experience jaw pain in the mornings after wearing these, and others talk about excessive salivation and drool spots on the pillow.
Additional limitations stem from mouthguards’ unsuitability for those of us who wear dentures or have capped teeth, so if this is you, don’t even consider a mouthpiece.
